I Am But Dust

It might seem odd to you that this verse was so encouraging to me this morning, at first it was odd to me. I came across it in my reading and had to sit on it for a bit.

What God started to speak to me was that He isn’t surprised by my weakness and failings. He knows what I’m made of. And He looks at this sinful, weak, selfish, pile of dirt, calls me beautiful, and says that He has amazing plans for me.

I shouldn’t argue with God about my limitations, He is already well aware of them. But He decided a long time ago that He was going to invite me to be a part of His grand adventure. The only person that is shocked by my limitations and actively allowing them to hold me back is me.

The awesome thing is that I can be open with God about my dustiness. There’s nothing to hide, and I don’t have to fear disappointing Him when I reveal the hurts and hinderances I’ve been hiding.

So remember, God knew what you were made of when He called you. And He called you anyway. He is patient with you, as long as you are coming to Him completely real, dirt and all, and open to going wherever He leads.
